A Significant Success from Karsan: The 10th JEST Vehicle Was Produced
Karsan, celebrating its 60th year in the sector in terms of public transportation solutions, has achieved a significant success. The JEST series, which started production in 2013, has become preferred in a wide geography from Türkiye to America, from Japan to Europe. In this process, the 10th vehicle coming off the assembly line was an important milestone for Karsan.
Karsan's electric model e-JEST, With its 170 horsepower engine and 88 kilowatt-hour battery capacity, BMW can offer a range of up to 210 kilometers. The vehicle can charge 25% of its battery on its own thanks to the regenerative braking system that provides energy recovery. Drawing attention with its high efficiency, e-JEST brings the comfort of a passenger car to the small bus class with its 12-inch touchscreen multimedia screen, digital instrument panel, keyless start feature, USB input and Wi-Fi compatible infrastructure.
Award-Winning Model's Successes
Karsan CEO Okan Baş, whose views were included in the statement, stated that this success was not just a production figure, but also symbolized the company's growth and strong position in the sector. Baş said, "We made this success possible together by working in harmony towards the same goal in all processes from logistics to production, from quality to engineering. I sincerely thank all my teammates who contributed to this journey."
Emphasizing that Karsan has become a global brand with its technological superiority and flexible production power, Baş said, “The 12 thousand JEST production we have achieved in just 10 years clearly demonstrates how strong a product this model is. This figure represents our company’s sustainable growth, solid position in the sector and belief in the future.”
Baş stated that they started JEST production as a brand that offers creative, sustainable and inspiring solutions to customer needs, and that the vehicle received the 'Best Design Award' in the 'Design Turkey' competition the following year of its first production. Baş noted that the electric e-JEST, developed in cooperation with BMW, was introduced one year after the aesthetic and technological renewal of the JEST+ model in 2017, and conveyed the following:
- “This step was the European debut of Europe’s best-selling electric minibus for five consecutive years.”
- “Finally, in 2023, Karsan e-JEST achieved another significant success by becoming the first European electric bus brand to enter the Japanese market with its right-hand drive version.”
