Tesla's New Vehicle: CyberCab
Tesla continues to disrupt the electric vehicle market, with its latest announcement being CyberCab Despite its small battery, this vehicle, which offers an ambitious range, combines with the latest developments in Tesla's autonomous driving technology.
Development Process of CyberCab and Robovan
Tesla is continuing its 2026 target for CyberCab development. The company's senior executives Franz von Holzhausen ve Lars Moravyannounced that it will begin Level 5 autonomous driving tests this year. These shared vehicles will be backed up and used safely by a remote operator.
Moravy said the CyberCab will offer a range of about 50 miles (about 300 km) with a battery that is smaller than 480 kWh. Today, vehicles that offer similar range require much larger battery packs. For example, the Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD has a range of 79,7 miles with a 363 kWh battery.
Innovations in the Production Process
Tesla plans to heavily utilize revolutionary casting technologies in the production of the CyberCab. The vehicle will feature large castings at the front and rear, and the structure will be supported by door shell castings. Moravy said this innovative manufacturing process will reduce costs and complexity. Tesla also aims to further minimize costs by not painting these castings.
Robovan's Latest Status
Tesla’s other exciting project, Robovan, has not yet reached its final stages. Von Holzhausen stated that different configurations have been tried in the vehicle’s interior design, but the final layout has not yet been determined. Although the model seen in the video has 14 seats, it is stated that the design may change in the future.
Conclusion
Tesla aims to take shared autonomous transportation one step further with its CyberCab and Robovan projects. The company continues to be a pioneer in electric vehicle technology while reducing costs with new production techniques.
