Karsan Otonom e-ATAK, a Level-4 driverless vehicle developed in cooperation with ADASTEC; Following the USA, Norway, Romania, Netherlands, Turkey, France and Finland, Switzerland is also starting the era of comfortable and environmentally friendly transportation.
Karsan continues to attract attention with its innovative models and superior service approach. Increasing its presence around the world day by day, Karsan stands out as the first choice of many countries, especially in Europe. Level-4 public transportation vehicle Autonomous e-ATAK continues to be the first choice especially for old settlements that have managed to preserve their historical texture.
Karsan Otonom e-ATAK broke new ground in the world by carrying passengers on a 1.5-kilometer route for 5 years on the campus of Michigan State University in the USA. Autonomous e-ATAK, which has been carrying ticketed passengers in open traffic in Stavanger, Norway, since 2022, expanded its existing route with a route including a tunnel at the beginning of this year and successfully passed another difficult test as the first autonomous vehicle to pass through the tunnel.
Karsan, which has launched autonomous projects at 7 different points with Otonom e-ATAK, which started working in Finland after the USA, Norway, France, Romania and Turkey, has achieved 80 thousand kilometers of autonomous driving experience and carried more than 30 thousand passengers. In addition, Karsan, which has also undertaken the airport autonomous project in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, will be the first brand in the world to carry out airport transfers with an autonomous vehicle, with the 2024 Autonomous e-ATAKs it will deliver at the end of 2.
Karsan is now preparing to put the Autonomous e-ATAK on the roads in Switzerland. Autonomous e-ATAK, which will serve in Arbon, one of the historical cities of Switzerland, and will be the country's first driverless bus, was purchased within the scope of TGA's SCCL (Self Controlled City Liner) project and will be delivered to the city by Karsan in December. As of January 2025, Arbon's public transportation operator will start carrying passengers under Eurobus Ostschweiz AG.
Stating that Karsan continues to take innovative steps with the vision of "One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility", Karsan CEO Okan Baş said: "We continue to transform the transportation infrastructure of the world, especially Europe, with our electric and autonomous vehicles. "With the work we do outside of our main target markets, we provide services with our own brand, from design to production, from sales and marketing to after-sales, in a wide geography from Japan to the USA," he said.
Emphasizing that the Autonomous e-ATAK, which is a vehicle that provides autonomous public transportation services in open traffic in the city in Europe, has also achieved a significant success as the first driverless vehicle to pass through a tunnel in Europe, Baş said, “Our vehicle is in the narrow corner of the city of Arbon, Switzerland. "With its compact structure suitable for the streets, it promises its passengers a comfortable and environmentally friendly autonomous travel experience without damaging the historical texture." he said.
Making a statement about the project, ADASTEC CEO Dr. Ali Peker said, “As ADASTEC, we continue to grow globally with our cooperation with Karsan. We continue to operate in many European cities, and now in Arbon we are making public transport more accessible and efficient. “These achievements are a result of the common vision we share with Karsan.” he said.
