Hyundai IONIQ 5 Wins Two Awards in One Day

Hyundai's all-electric SUV, the IONIQ 5, won the "Imported Car of the Year 2022-2023" award at the Car of the Year (JCOTY) competition in Japan. IONIQ 5, the first model of Hyundai's battery electric vehicle (BEV) brand, surpassed its strong competitors and received one of the most prestigious awards of the competition. It's the first time a Korean automaker has won an award at JCOTY, marking a new milestone in the automotive industry as well.

The Japan Car of the Year awards were first held in 1980 to determine the Top 10 Cars of the Year, with special test drives for each category. Vehicles offered for sale in the Japanese market in the last 1 year can participate in this very important competition. Hyundai IONIQ 5, on the other hand, took the lead in the "Top 48 Cars" list among 10 ambitious candidates. With this important award, IONIQ 5 has proven its claim in electric mobility for users in Japan and around the world. Receiving this award in Japan, which has multiple prestigious global awards including Car of the Year in the world, means a very important victory for Hyundai.

While Hyundai IONIQ 5 celebrated its first prize in Japan, another award news came from America at the same time. Motor1.com, which has editions in many countries of the world, gave the Editors' Choice Award to IONIQ 2022 at the 5 Star Awards. The Star Awards feature all new tools rated by expert editors. The awards feature categories such as Best Electric, Best Performance, Best Luxury, Best Pick Up, Best SUV, Best Value, and Editors' Choice.
