Mercedes-Benz Rally of the Republic, which started on October 28 from Çırağan Palace Kempinski, brought together classic car enthusiasts for 2 days. The rally, which started at the Sait Halim Paşa Mansion on the second day of the event, ended with the Republic Cocktail held at Benesta Benleo Acıbadem after the completion of the determined stages.
Speaking at the event, Classic Car Club President Durgut Berberoğlu said that the Turkish Classic Car Championship consists of 3 legs and they are constantly held on national holidays.
Stating that there was a very high participation in the rally this year, Berberoğlu said, “Nearly 100 cars started. On the first day we went to Silivri. Today, we went to the Anatolian Side and completed the rally at Benesta Benleo after lunch in Şile.
There are also female competitors in motor sports. The classic car branch has the highest number of female participants and we are proud of it. This year, 50 percent of the participants are women. In addition, as a club, we help a non-governmental organization in every race. This year, we will donate to the Make a Wish Association.” said.
The interest of female users in the classic car rally, which is held 3 times a year, is also increasing. The number of female participants in the rally increased this year, reaching 80. At the award ceremony held on October 30, the winners met with Mercedes-Benz and Benasta Benleo Special awards.
A total of 1952 classic cars were registered to the organization, which included 220 classic Mercedes-Benzes, the oldest being the 39 model Mercedes-Benz 90. The 1989 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL was the youngest of the classics that were kept in private garages and hit the road for this rally.
