Domestic Automobile TOGG 2030 Million Units Will Be Produced Until 1

The Gemlik Campus, where the mass production of Turkey's vision project Togg, where important steps have been taken in terms of branding and production, will be realized, will be opened on October 29 with the participation of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.

With the call of President Erdoğan, Turkey's dream of domestic and national automobile came to life again, and the search for investors, which started under the leadership of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB), was completed in a short time.

Turkey's Automobile Project Joint Venture Group Cooperation Protocol on November 2, 2017 for domestic automobile production carried out under the coordination of the Ministry of Industry and Technology and TOBB; Signed with Anadolu Group, BMC, Kıraça Holding, Turkcell Group and Zorlu Holding.

Later, as the incorporation process started, a period was entered in which the necessary technical and financial analyzes were made. In addition to the 5 "boys" in the Domestic Automobile Project, TOBB also became a partner in the company with a 5 percent stake.

Togg was officially established on June 25, 2018, and on September 1, 2018, Mehmet Gürcan Karakaş was appointed as Togg's Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

With the President's Decision published on 27 December 2019 regarding the granting of project-based state aid to Turkey's Automobile, the province where the Togg will be produced has been determined. It has been announced that Togg will establish a factory in the Gemlik district of Bursa for the production of electric cars.

The features of the “C-SUV” and “C-SEDAN” preview vehicles were shared with the public for the first time at the promotion, which was held on the same day with the participation of President Erdoğan under the name of “Turkey's Automobile Enterprise Group Meeting for a Journey to Innovation”.

Designs registered, factory construction started

While the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) application file of Togg regarding the Electric Car Production Facility Project in Gemlik was opened to the public on March 2, 2020, the EIA meeting was held on March 17. On June 2, the necessary EIA report for the start of the factory construction was received positively from the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization.

Following the EIA positive report, an investment incentive certificate was also obtained, which will further accelerate Togg's activities.

The interior and exterior designs of Togg cars were registered by the European Union Intellectual Property Rights Office (EUIPO) on April 12. On June 24, the SUV and sedan designs of the cars were registered to Togg by the Chinese Patent Institute.

The construction commencement ceremony of Togg Engineering, Design and Production Facilities was held on July 18. The foundation of the factory, which will be established on an area of ​​1,2 million square meters in the Gemlik district of Bursa, was laid with the participation of President Erdoğan.

Togg Senior Manager Karakaş announced on 7 August that they are measuring different name alternatives in Turkey and abroad markets, and that Turkey's Automobile will continue on its way with the Togg brand.

After the European Union and China, Togg designs, on August 18, the Japanese Patent Office (JPO) also registered Togg's C-SUV and sedan designs to Togg.

Togg has chosen Farasis, one of the world's leading Li-Ion battery manufacturers, as its business partner to manufacture the battery module and package, one of the most basic components in the electric vehicle product range it is developing, in Turkey. On October 20, a comprehensive letter of intent was signed in Bilişim Vadisi with the participation of Togg Board members.

New logo determined

The superstructure works of the facility started in January 2021. In February, the infrastructure works of the paint shop, energy and body buildings of the facility were completed.

Togg opened its European office to develop mobility solutions that meet the expectations of global users by conducting user research at de:hub in Stuttgart, one of Germany's 12 innovation centers.

With the capital increase realized, Togg became the automotive company with the highest paid-in capital in Turkey with 996 million 774 thousand liras, while the shareholding shares in the company changed.

The shares of KÖK Transportation Transportation AŞ, which did not participate in the capital increase, in Togg were purchased by the existing partners at nominal value within the framework of the shareholders' agreement. Anadolu Group, BMC, Turkcell and Vestel Elektronik's shares rose from 19 percent to 23 percent, while TOBB's shares rose from 5 percent to 8 percent.

In June, the User Lab, where Togg technologies will be examined, tested and experienced, became operational in the IT Valley.

In partnership with Togg and Farasis, Siro Silk Road Clean Energy Solutions Industry and Trade Inc. was established in September to develop energy storage solutions in automotive and non-automotive applications.

With the decision taken at the Board of Directors meeting, the capital of the company was increased to 2 billion 643 thousand 774 thousand liras.

Togg's new logo was introduced on December 18, 2021. It was stated that the two arrows in the design of the logo, fusing to form a gemstone in the middle, symbolize the coming together of Eastern and Western cultures, emphasizing that Togg is a technology company that brings technology and people together at the intersection of today and tomorrow, thanks to its mobility solutions that make life easier.

Test track completed

Togg took its place in January at CES 2022, the world's largest consumer electronics show. The respected publication of the industry, Exhibitor, chose Togg as one of the “Top 2300 Brands of CES” among 20 participants.

In April, a 1,6 kilometer test track for different needs such as high speed, rough roads and special maneuvers, which will be used in product development and quality processes, was completed at the Gemlik facility.

After completing one of the key stages, part inspection and verification in Gemlik, trial production of the first C-SUV body was carried out on robot lines.

Togg received its charging network operator license on 1 July as a result of its application to the Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) with the Trugo brand.

Siro completed the production and tests of the first prototype battery in Gebze, where it started its development activities for different usage areas, especially electric vehicles, in August.

In August, President Erdoğan conducted a test drive with the first test vehicle produced at the Togg production base in Gemlik.

In September, Togg's tests were carried out at the accredited center in Ushuaia, Argentina for the continuation of the winter tests that started in Sweden in March.

The official opening of the Gemlik Campus, where Turkey's automobile Togg will be mass-produced, will be held on October 29 with a ceremony attended by President Erdogan.

The innate electric car with the longest wheelbase in its segment stands out with its technical features as well as its design.

Accordingly, Turkey's Car will reach 30 percent occupancy with fast charging under 80 minutes. The car, which will have “300+” and “500+” kilometer range options with its inborn electric modular platform, will be constantly connected to the center and will be able to receive updates remotely via 4G/5G connection.

Equipped with a long-lasting battery pack provided by advanced battery management and active thermal management systems, the car can accelerate from 200-7,6 km/h in under 400 seconds with 4,8 horsepower and 0 seconds with 100 horsepower.

With the battery integrated into the platform, compatible with Euro NCAP 5-star level, it will have high crash resistance and 30 percent more torsional strength.

Production of 2030 million units planned by 1

After the completion of the homologation tests, the SUV, the first vehicle in the C segment, will be launched at the end of the first quarter of 2023. Then again, sedan and hatchback models in the C segment will enter the production line. In the following years, with the addition of B-SUV and C-MPV to the family, the product range consisting of 5 models “with the same DNA” will be completed.

Togg, which will employ a total of 175 people when its annual production capacity reaches 4 at its Gemlik facility, plans to manufacture a total of 300 million vehicles in 2030 different models from a single platform until 5.
