Mercedes-Benz Turk Launches Conecto Hybrid in Turkey

Mercedes-Benz Turk has launched the Mercedes-Benz Conecto hybrid, the newest player in the city bus industry, for sale in Turkey. Orhan Çavuş, Mercedes-Benz Türk City Bus and Public Sales Group Manager, said, “Mercedes-Benz Conecto hybrid provides fuel savings of up to 6,5 percent compared to our conventional diesel engine Conecto model. A Mercedes-Benz Conecto hybrid, which travels 80.000 km a year, will prevent the release of an average of 5.2 tons of CO2 into the environment thanks to its fuel savings.”

The Mercedes-Benz Turkish Bus R&D team, which has made a name for itself with its success in the world of Daimler Truck, has undertaken another important work by undertaking the project management of the R&D studies of the Mercedes-Benz Conecto hybrid.

Developed considering urban transportation needs, Mercedes-Benz Conecto hybrid is produced at Mercedes-Benz Türk Hoşdere Bus Factory.

Mercedes-Benz Conecto hybrid model of Mercedes-Benz Conecto, one of the most important players in the city bus industry, was put on sale in Turkey. The vehicle produced at Mercedes-Benz Türk Hoşdere Bus Factory was held on September 15, 2022 with the participation of Mercedes-Benz Türk Bus Marketing and Sales Director Osman Nuri Aksoy, Mercedes-Benz Türk City Bus and Public Sales Group Manager Orhan Çavuş and members of the press. It was introduced at the event held at the Turkish Marketing Center.

Orhan Çavuş, Mercedes-Benz Türk City Bus and Public Sales Group Manager, said, “It is getting more and more difficult to meet the changing legal requirements regarding emission values with internal combustion engines. As a company, we focus our investments mainly on electric vehicles in line with both legal requirements and our vision for a carbon neutral future. The Mercedes-Benz Conecto hybrid, which will be produced at our Hoşdere Bus Factory, has emerged as a result of these studies. Our vehicle provides fuel savings of up to 6,5 percent compared to our conventional diesel engine Conecto model. A Mercedes-Benz Conecto hybrid, which travels 80.000 km a year, will prevent the release of an average of 5.2 tons of CO2 into the environment thanks to its fuel savings. I wish that our new vehicle, in which Mercedes-Benz Türk plays an important role from the development stage to the production stage, will be beneficial for our country, our industry and our company.”

Fuel savings of up to 6,5 percent with hybrid technology

The Mercedes-Benz Conecto hybrid, which provides fuel savings of up to 6 percent compared to versions with Euro 6,5 diesel engines, will significantly reduce its emissions and release less carbon into the environment.

The electric motor is integrated between the diesel engine and the transmission in the vehicle, which has a system called "compact hybrid", where the electric motor works together with the diesel engine. In the Mercedes-Benz Conecto hybrid, the energy generated during braking or gasless driving is converted into electrical energy by the electric motor and stored by transferring it to capacitors with high storage capacity located on the roof. The stored electrical energy is used to support the diesel engine during the vehicle's take-off and provides less load on the diesel engine.

The Mercedes-Benz Conecto hybrid, which is predicted to have the same battery life as the vehicle lifetime, does not require a different maintenance cost than Conecto model vehicles with Euro 6 diesel engines.

Turkish engineers have their signature on its R&D

Mercedes-Benz Türk Bus R&D team, which has made a name for itself with its success in the roof company Daimler Truck world, has undertaken another important work by undertaking the project management of the R&D studies of Mercedes-Benz Conecto hybrid. In addition, the adaptations to be made on the body, exterior and interior coatings of the vehicle, the positioning of the battery and the design of the cable installations were also realized with the work of the same team. megaparity
