The Ministry of Interior has recently acted upon complaints from citizens regarding the use of unauthorized strobe lights. Our Ministry has sent a new circular to 81 Provincial Governorships on “Vehicles with Passage Superiority”. He asked the governorships to carry out continuous and intensive inspections until the end of the year to prevent unauthorized light/audible warning signs (flashing) and the use of the right of way.

In the circular sent to the governorships, in the relevant article of the Highway Traffic Law No. 2918 titled "Vehicles with Passing Superiority and Driving Rules", the rules and principles regarding the use of light and sound warning signs, the rules to be applied while driving these vehicles, and the "Vehicles with Passing Superiority" were determined. It was stated that it entered into force in 2021 within the scope of the “Regulation on the Law”.

It was stated that vehicles with superiority of transit within the scope of the relevant law and legislation can only be used while on duty/for their purposes, provided that they give the audible and visible sign of pass-through without endangering the safety of life and property of the public.

Administrative fines are imposed on those who arbitrarily use the right of transition

In the circular, it was also stated that an administrative fine was imposed on drivers who use the right of unnecessary right of way even though it is not compulsory, and those who have and use the aforementioned devices in their vehicles, although they do not have the right of way.

In particular, taking into account the complaints of the citizens regarding the unauthorized use of strobe lights, which endanger traffic safety in the recent period, unauthorized light and sound warning signs, from the governorships in order to prevent the use of the right of way, and to raise public awareness; It was requested that special inspection plans be made by increasing the inspections throughout the country and that these activities be continued effectively, intensively and continuously until the end of the year.
