Characteristics of chain slings

Chain slings are a very popular type of slings used most often in heavy industry. They consist of thick chain links and hooks. There are hooks:

Suitable chain slings with hooks are able to handle transport weighing from several to several tons. Chain slings are not afraid of any weather conditions, including high humidity, low and high temperatures. They will also do great around chemicals. They are made of high-quality steel, which in turn can also be divided into different classes. The most popular class is 8, suitable for most jobs. However, it should not be used for works in acidic conditions, as this reduces the strength of the chains.

The basis of such slings are tendons - most often there are one, two, three or four. They are connected by a common link, and each of them in the standard version has the same length. During their use, string extensions, equipment in the form of twisting hooks and loop slings are also often used.

Application and use of chain slings

The use of such equipment as chain slings requires strict adherence to safety rules. The methods of attachment and use are read from the appropriate tables prepared by the manufacturer, which constitute the starting point and guarantee accident-free workflow. Remember to adjust loads to the indicated Permissible Working Load, i.e. WLL. Under no circumstances should these guidelines be exceeded, as it poses a great threat to the environment.

As mentioned earlier, chain slings are used for the most demanding transport and reloading activities. However, these are not the only uses for this tool. They are very versatile and helpful equipment not only in lifting companies. Such slings can also be found in production halls and warehouses. An important issue is also proper care of the machine. Regular inspections and services are the key to the proper operation of the equipment. It is recommended to check at least once a year.
