Otokar, the leading company of the Turkish automotive and defense industry, announced its 6-month financial results. Otokar started 2022 fast with its new product introduction and launched 4 new vehicles in the first half of the year. Introducing its innovative vehicles all over the world, Otokar doubled its turnover in the first half of the year compared to the same period of the previous year. Maintaining the current level in exports, the company's net profit in the first 6 months increased by 37 percent to 543 million TL.

Otokar, one of the Koç Group companies, made a quick start to 2022. Introducing its innovations one after the other in the first half of the year, Otokar shared its financial results for the first 6 months. Otokar made significant domestic and international deliveries, 180 new vehicle launches, and participation in many fairs in 4 days, and doubled its turnover in the first 2022 months of 6 compared to the same period of the previous year. Otokar, which broke new ground in Turkey with its innovative products and solutions, operates with companies in 5 countries, including Turkey, and whose vehicles are used in more than 5 countries in 60 continents, doubled its turnover in the first 6 months of the year, reaching 2 billion TL. The company's exports, on the other hand, were at a similar level to the same period of the previous year, reaching 3,7 million USD.

Otokar General Manager Serdar Görgüç evaluated his work for the first 6 months; He stated that Otokar, which has maintained its leadership in the Turkish bus market for 13 years without interruption, continues to be the first choice of users and said: “Otokar buses are used in many metropolitan municipalities in Turkey, especially in Ankara, Izmir and Istanbul, as well as in France, Italy, Spain, Germany in Europe. We are very proud to be preferred in countries such as Romania. Within the scope of the metrobus tender we won at the end of last year, we completed the deliveries of 100 KENT XL metrobuses, which we specially designed and produced for the mega city Istanbul, in a short period of 6 months. Otokar KENT XL metrobuses, which are 21 meters long and have a capacity of 200 passengers, started to transport passengers as of the first months of 2022.

Görgüç stated that Otokar, which has pioneered vehicles such as Turkey's first hybrid bus, first electric bus and smart bus, has increased its claim in electric buses for the first time with the new buses they exhibited at Busworld Turkey 2022; “We have implemented pioneering work in the field of alternative fuel vehicles. Focusing on the expectations of the future, our company made its 12-meter electric bus promotions across Europe at the end of last year. We exhibited the new members of our electric bus family, ranging from 6 meters to 18,75 meters, for the first time at the international bus fair Busworld Turkey. Our electric articulated city bus, e-Kent, and our electric minibus e-Centro, which we launched, won great acclaim, from its design to its features. Near zamWe have received new orders for our electric buses from Europe, which is our target market at the moment. Our goal is to write a new success story in the electric bus.”

“WE ARE INCREASING OUR CLAIM IN THE TRUCK MARKET”

Otokar General Manager Serdar Görgüç stated that 2022, which was declared as the year of innovations by Otokar, has taken its claim in the truck market as well as public transportation to a different dimension with Atlas 3D: we moved. Atlas has gained great appreciation from businesses and public institutions in different business lines. In order to meet the expectations and needs in the market, we introduced the new member of the Atlas family, the 10-ton and 12-axle Atlas 3D. On the other hand, we continued to strengthen our dealer structure so that our wide product range in commercial vehicles can be easily accessed all over Turkey. Our new dealers in the Black Sea and Eastern Anatolia Regions have started to serve.”

“OUR MILITARY VEHICLES ARE TESTED BY USERS IN DIFFERENT COUNTRIES”

Görgüç said that Otokar also continues its efforts in the Turkish defense industry, and said that user tests of military vehicles, whose success in this field has been proven worldwide, continue in different geographies. Noting that Otokar is a global player in the defense industry, Serdar Görgüç said; “Our military vehicles are included in the inventory of more than 35 users in more than 55 friendly and allied countries around the world, including the Turkish army and security forces, and they are actively serving in very different geographies, challenging climate conditions and risky areas. In the first 6 months of this year, we introduced our defense industry products and capabilities at Eurosatory, Europe's largest defense industry fair, and at fairs in Eastern Europe, the Far East and South America. In addition to our successful products and services in land vehicles, we also stand out with our technology transfer capabilities. We closely follow cooperation and export opportunities in different regions.” Stating that they actively follow the needs and expectations of many different countries in the defense industry, Görgüç added: “The successful performance of our armored vehicles, which are in the inventory of different countries and are actively used in peacekeeping forces, attracts the attention of many countries. Users want to try our tools in their own geographical and climatic conditions. Currently, our vehicles are subjected to detailed and rigorous tests by our users in many countries. We closely follow the expectations and needs of our users. We received an important export order, which we announced to the public in May this year. We will complete the deliveries in the coming period,” he said.
