Bailiff; They are the people who call the defendant/plaintiff persons and witnesses who will attend the hearing in the courts, notify the judge's orders and statements, and follow up the necessary documents and documents. Bailiffs are also referred to as "Summoners".

Bailiffs are the persons who take charge in the courts of the Republic of Turkey and are responsible for the discipline of the hearing. They assist the judge during the trial and are responsible for the healthy conduct of the trial in general.

What Does a Bailiff Do, What Are His Duties?

Bailiffs; During the hearing, he invites the parties and witnesses to the courtroom, shows their seats and forwards the documents and documents given by the parties to the judge. Other duties of the bailiff, who regulates the internal discipline of the hearing in line with the orders of the judge, are as follows:

  • To ensure that the person who will speak at the hearing gives their statements standing up and to warn everyone in the hall to stand up when the judge declares that the decision stage has been reached,
  • In case of postponed hearing, to prepare the document notifying the parties of the postponed date,
  • Wearing the appropriate formal attire in the legislation,
  • In case of a closed hearing, to empty the hall and to hang the letter stating the confidentiality of the hearing on the door of the courtroom,
  • Posting the daily hearing list in a visible place,
  • Working under the supervision of the editor-in-chief,
  • To ensure the order of the files in the archive and to keep the entry and exit processes of the files in the archive under control,
  • To fulfill the duties assigned by the head of the department or the editor-in-chief,
  • After the completion of the document scanning process, placing the document in the relevant file,
  • Carrying out postal and embezzlement works.

How to Become a Bailiff?

The bailiffs are appointed by the Judicial Judiciary Commissions under the Ministry of Justice. To be a bailiff, it is required to be at least a high school graduate or equivalent. Bailiffs; If they get at least 70 points from KPSS as a high school, associate and undergraduate graduate, they are subjected to an oral interview by the Ministry of Justice.

There is no course or certificate program to be a bailiff. Persons who want to be bailiffs must be successful in General Law, Mathematics, Turkish, Logic, Geography, History, Pen Legislation courses for KPSS and the oral exams they will take after.
