Does not show symptoms in the early period
Pancreatic cancer, which is one of the types of cancer that is difficult to diagnose, occurs with the aggravation of symptoms in advanced stages. It is very important that both the surgeon and the hospital have sufficient qualifications to intervene in the complications that may occur after surgery, as they are extremely difficult and require high responsibility operations.
Pancreatic cancer findings include; dark urine, fatigue-weakness, jaundice, loss of appetite and weight, nausea-vomiting, diarrhea or indigestion, and pain radiating from the upper part of the abdomen to the back.
Stage 1: It has not spread beyond the pancreas and is in a small area.
Stage 2: The tumor has spread outside the pancreas and has reached other organs and lymph nodes, especially adjacent tissues.
Stage 3: The tumor has grown out of the pancreas, has spread to adjacent tissues, organs, and lymph nodes, and has also spread to the major blood vessels around the pancreas.
Stage 4: It has also spread to the farthest places from the pancreas to the liver.
Whipple surgery in pancreatic cancer prolongs life
Pancreatic cancer treatment; It consists of 3 different stages: surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Whipple is used to treat tumors and other disorders of the pancreas, intestine, and bile duct. It is the most commonly used surgery to treat pancreatic cancer that is confined to the pancreatic head. After performing the Whipple procedure, the surgeon reconnects the remaining organs to digest food normally after surgery. Whipple, which is a difficult and demanding process, can have serious risks. However, this surgery is life-saving, especially for people with cancer. Very few surgeons in Turkey can perform this procedure.
