One of the biggest events of sports tourism, MXGP of TURKEY and Turkey MotoFest, where the world's most important motocrossers compete, will be held in Afyonkarahisar in the first week of September under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey.

The Turkey stage of the World Motocross Championship (MXGP), where the world's most important motocrossers compete, will be held on September 4-5, 2021, and Turkey's biggest event in 2021, Turkey MotoFest, will be held on September 1-5, 2021 in Afyonkarahisar.

The launch meeting of the race and festival, which attracts mainly young people and especially high-income groups, and which is the future of motorcycle enthusiasts from many parts of the world, was held in Afyonkarahisar.

Speaking at the introductory meeting held at NG Hotels Afyon, Afyonkarahisar Governor Gökmen Çiçek said that they started international organizations together with motocross sport, so the championship in question was the first eye pain.

Expressing that Afyonkarahisar's name will be heard more and more not only in Turkey but also all over the world, Çiçek said, “Motocross is now a matter of honor for us, it is our crown. Motocross really suited Afyonkarahisar, it became identified with it.'' He said.

Afyonkarahisar Mayor Mehmet Zeybek emphasized that besides being a gastronomy city, one of the best tracks in the world for motocross, Afyonkarahisar Mayor Mehmet Zeybek reminded that Afyonkarahisar came to the fore with its declaration as a gastronomy city, and said that this year, besides the race that was postponed last year, they will organize the festival together by spreading it over five days.

AK Party Afyonkarahisar Deputy İbrahim Yurdunuseven stated that Afyonkarahisar has proven to be the capital of sports with the sports facilities they have built and the organizations there, and expressed that they expect all athletes and tourists from abroad who are interested in this sport.

Underlining that motorcycle sport is rising rapidly in Turkey and that Turkish athletes are starting to talk about their success in the world, Turkish Motorcycle Federation (TMF) President Bekir Yunus Uçar continued his speech as follows: “I always dream of doing great things. zamWe set up a moment and ran after this dream. Noting that 5 races in the world championship format will be held in the first week of September, Uçar stated that Afyonkarahisar will be reflected and kept alive with all its features and beauty through broadcasts to 180 countries.

Uçar stated that they expect to host 100 thousand spectators for 5 days within the scope of the said events and announced that they expect nearly 10 thousand foreign participants.

Many athletes from Turkey will also participate in the World and European Motocross races. One of the athletes participating in the launch will perform for the first time this year. A competitor from Turkey will participate in the World Women's Motocross Championship for the first time. Irmak Yıldırım, a 16-year-old motocross athlete, said that he started this sport at the age of 14, and that he continues to work to achieve success with the training he received with the contribution of his family.

The race, which will be held under the auspices of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, will be held at Afyonkarahisar Motorsports Track, which is awarded the best track in the world. As Turkey is a “reliable country”, athletes and spectators from many parts of the world will come to Turkey to watch the races.

On 4-5 September 2021, 5 races will be held simultaneously in world and European classification:

  • World Senior Motocross Championship (MXGP),
  • World Women's Motocross Championship (MXWOMEN),
  • World Junior Motocross Championship (MX2),
  • European Motocross Championship (MX2T),
  • European Motocross Championship (MXOPEN)

Nearly 25 racers with more than 150 teams, including factory teams such as Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, TM and Fantic, are expected to participate in the races to be held in Turkey.

MXGP of TURKEY, the Turkey stage of the most important race of the most popular motocross races worldwide, reaches nearly 7.3 billion viewers in 180 countries where 3.5 billion people live. The races where the world's motocross stars compete, this year MXGP and MX18 consisting of 2 stages, MXWOMEN consisting of 6 stages, MX13T and MXOPEN consisting of 2 stages will sweat for the podium.

Turkey MotoFest, which is expected to be the biggest event of Turkey in 2021, is going up to 5 days this year. The festival, which will be held between 1-5 September 2021, will bring together motorcycle enthusiasts from different parts of Turkey and the world. Approximately 100 thousand visitors are expected to attend Turkey MotoFest this year.

Worldwide broadcasts of MXGP of TURKEY and news from Turkey MotoFest contribute greatly to the promotion of Turkey. The advertising value of only the news and broadcasts of MXGP of TURKEY and Turkey MotoFest held in 2019 reached 200 million Euros.
