Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Deputy Minister of Trade Rıza Tuna Turagay and TİM President İsmail Gülle attended the opening. In the competition moderated by Technology and Trend Hunter Serdar Kuzuloğlu and watched by many people from industry professionals to academics, entrepreneurs and students, successful project owners who are placed in the competition will be awarded 250 thousand TL in total.

Speaking at the opening, OIB Board Chairman Baran Çelik said, “As the automotive industry, we can already say that this year we will reach the 15th championship. Our average export for the last three years is 30 billion dollars. Our country is the world's 14th and Europe's 4th largest motor vehicle manufacturer. "We are at an excellent point in the world in terms of quality awareness, production capability, supply infrastructure and a sought-after production center."

Reminding that the automotive industry is one of the sectors most affected by the change in the world with concepts such as big data, internet of things, e-mobility, Çelik said, “Traditional, internal combustion engine powered, mechanically weighted vehicles are replaced by electrical, interconnected, autonomous; that is, leaving it to software-heavy tools managed by artificial intelligence. Turkey unthinkable as we stay away from this transformation in the world, we aim to be an important part of this transformation. At this point, our goal as OIB; Turkey's production center, to include the design and development capability. In line with this goal, the Future of Automotive Design Competition, which we have been organizing since 2012, is the theme this year; At a time when the industry entered the age of electric and autonomous vehicles and our country accelerated its domestic electric vehicle investment, we defined it as “Electric Vehicles”. Stating that the share of electric vehicles in the total market has increased rapidly in developed countries with high environmental awareness, Baran Çelik said, “In the April-June period of this year, electrified vehicle (ECV) sales, including plug-in hybrids, were 53% in EU countries compared to the same period last year. increased. In the first half of the year in EU countries, sales of electrically charged vehicles increased by 77%. The share of electrically rechargeable vehicles in total sales, which was 3% in the whole of last year in EU countries, increased to 7% in the first six months of this year. "These figures do not include hybrid vehicles that can charge themselves / without connection," he said.

Burhanoğlu: "Investors are needed to enter the global arena"

Ömer Burhanoğlu, OİB OGTY Executive Board Chairman, said, “More than 4 thousand projects have been evaluated in our contest so far. Among these, 193 were supported and 31 received awards. Continuing with panels, the competition program, in which 291 applications were made and 10 projects made it to the finals, will end with the rewarding of the winners.
