Local Retinar FAR-AD Drone Detection Radar Delivery Has Been Realized

Fixed and rotary wing mini / micro drones, or drone systems, have become an important threat to our security forces in recent years, especially as they can be easily supplied and used by terrorist organizations. Although there are various jamming systems as a precaution against drone threats, the drone must first be detected before drone systems can be disabled. Visual detection of drones can be difficult due to the small size of the threat and its selectability depending on the weather conditions. On the other hand, due to the very short distance of the drones to the eyes, it is too late to prevent danger. For this reason, radar systems are the most critical system for remote detection of mini / micro UAVs.

In this context, within the scope of the “Mini / Micro UAV Detection Radar System Agreement” signed with the Defense Industry Directorate in 2019, Meteksan Defense Industry has completed the Retinar FAR-AD Drone Detection Radar in as short as 8 months. The delivery of Retinar FAR-AD Systems, which has completed many different tests such as the separation of drones from birds, detection and tracking of different drones such as DJI Phantom, TALON, has been delivered with great success.

Retinar FAR-AD Drone Detection Radar developed by Meteksan Defense; It is a completely local and nationally developed radar system against mini / micro unmanned aerial vehicles and land threats. Retinar FAR-AD will automatically scan large areas and act as the primary sensor of security forces for drones.

Operating with low RF output power in Ku frequency band, the system has advanced technology solid state radio frequency design and digital based radar architecture. Using the customized pulse compression pulse doppler waveform, the system offers selectable effective usage modes with different waveforms and different angular rotation speeds thanks to its digital radar architecture. Retinar FAR-AD is not affected by the maneuvers of threats thanks to its 30 rpm rotation speed and successfully monitors the threats.

With its instantaneous 40 ° elevation angle, Retinar FAR-AD can detect and track threats on land up to 7 km and air threats up to 3 km. Radar provides the operator with information about the direction, distance, speed and direction up to 9 km of the targets followed by the "User Interface Software". The system, which can make automatic target classification in tracking information while scanning, increases the classification performance with detailed algorithms in Target Analysis Mode in order to eliminate uncertainties and increase classification reliability.

Meteksan Defense, which developed the Retinar Environment Surveillance Radar Family in our country and presented them to the use of the Land Forces Command, the Gendarmerie General Command, the State Airports Administration, and two countries in Europe and one in Europe, is one of the important achievements for the determination of land targets. Then, by directing its technological infrastructure to the detection of drone systems, Retinar FAR-AD is proud to bring the Dron Detection Radar to our country.
