From this about 1 month ago Karsan started working on an electric bus capable of autonomous driving. The name of the electric bus with autonomous driving was announced to be Atak Electric. The first order for Karsan Atak Electric model was received from Romania. BSCI, one of the Romanian technology companies, ordered one Karsan Autonomous Atak Electric to be used within the Industrial Park in Ploeşti.
Karsan Atak Electric will serve in a specially defined area with its autonomous driving. Karsan Electric bus will be delivered to BSCI company by the end of the year at the latest. Thus, Karsan will have realized the first autonomous project sales in Europe in the 8 meter bus class.
Karsan Atak Electric, in cooperation with the Turkish company ADASTEC, is planned to be completed in August.
The test, simulation and validation studies of Atak Electric, which will gain autonomous driving features by integrating the level 4 autonomous software developed by ADASTEC into the electrical-electronic architecture and electric vehicle software of Atak Electric, will continue until the end of the year..
Karsan Atak Electric has a 230 kW fully electric motor. The vehicle will offer 300 km range with full charge and besides, it will charge in 3 hours thanks to its fast charging feature.
