DOF Robotics, which makes a name for itself in the American, Chinese and European countries with its innovations brought to the entertainment sector by using robotic technologies, exports 95 of its products and contributes to the country's economy and succeeds to become an important brand in the global arena by adapting DOF Robotics technology to the logistics sector. Artificial Intelligence is preparing to move into forklift production.

DOF Robotics Chairman Mustafa Mertcan answered the questions about the new products they prepared with 100% local software and the forklift market that will have a huge economy in 2025.

Can you tell us about your company?

DOF Robotics, which started to produce entertainment robots in 2004, exported 95% of its products and contributed to the national economy and became an important brand in the global arena. In total, 45 exports to different countries by making 27% of its exports to the United States and 57% to the People's Republic of China. With the contributions and efforts of Turkish engineers working under DOF Robotics, it has become a registered R & D center in order to continuously produce new and technological products and to be competitive. The Company continues to contribute to the development of the entertainment sector both domestically and internationally with the latest products it has produced thanks to its strategic alliances with major brands (Six Flags, Universal Studios, Wanda Group), attaching great importance to R & D activities. All of the products developed in the R & D center together with the collaborations made are commercialized products and have been awarded with innovation awards in the fairs they participated.

Finally, you have developed a product for the logistics sector with artificial intelligence. Can you tell us about this new product?

In addition to the activities of DOF Robotics in the Entertainment sector, it has started to work for the production of Automatic Guided Vehicles (AGV), a new sector, by taking advantage of its R&D center. In 2017, global forklift sales reached a record level of 15.7 million units, up 1.334% year on year, while sales of the People's Republic of China rose 34.2% year on year to 497.000 units. In 2018, the Chinese market continued to grow rapidly. In the future, the Chinese forklift market will still have great growth potential, and forklift sales in 2023 are projected to double in 2018. For electric forklifts, in particular electric warehouse forklifts saw the highest growth rates in 2017 and 2018, respectively 48,4% and 49,8% (January-October). This is largely due to the intensive implementation of environmental protection policies, rising fuel costs, and strong demand for storage logistics. In addition, the demands are increasing in the new energy forklift market, where more participants are entering. As logistics became automated and intelligent, AGV sales started to increase. Large forklift manufacturers have launched the forklift AGV in order to gain a large part of the market. Among the key factors driving the growth of the market are the increasing demand for automation in the use of materials in industries, the increasing popularity of e-commerce, the increase in safety standards in workplaces, and the shift in demand from mass production to mass customization.

What is the size of the market?

Market size of AGV market share between 2014-2025 years; 2016 billion USD in 1,560, 2017 billion USD in 2,010, 2025 billion in 8,500 is expected to be more than billion USD. The increasing demand for material handling, positioning and optimization of AGV equipment in warehouses, distribution facilities and automobile assembly centers is expected to increase the growth of the sector over forecasting expectations.

Why is the market growing?

Potential growth opportunities for AGV include the emergence of Flexible Manufacturing Systems (FMS), increased demand for customized AGVs, acceptance of industrial automation by SMEs, domestic software. Other AGV types - hybrid AGVs and customized AGVs - are witnessing high acceptance rates. Manufacturers design hybrid and customized AGVs to meet the varying material handling requirements of different industries. Selection of the most suitable AGV type depends on the requirements of the industries. Customized and mixed type AGVs can be produced to meet the various needs of end users, which will contribute to the high growth of the market during the projected period. The growth of the AGV market can easily be linked to technology as it does not require modification of existing infrastructure to use AGVs in an industrial facility. Static obstacles such as magnets, sensors, reflectors or RFID or infrastructure changes among the way AGVs are used make it easier for these AGVs to navigate in warehouses or industrial facilities. The technology allows an operator to create a three-dimensional map through a series of images taken when the vehicle is in storage. After the maps are created, the AGVs are ready to work around the facility. AGVs are a key element in various operations such as distribution, order fulfillment, cross-docking, mass transit and package transportation. The growing e-commerce industry causes a significant increase in the number of warehouses, while creating large demands for AGVs in distribution centers. Increase in acceptance of AGVs in distribution practice, carefully handling, pulling, stacking, unloading etc., free from human factor errors. It depends on their ability to perform activities such as.

Which markets will grow more?

Europe and Middle East Countries will be the biggest markets for AGVs during the AGV development period. Europe is expected to lead the AGV market in terms of size from 2019 to 2024. The region has an exceptionally high labor cost; Therefore, manufacturers in European countries adopt automated solutions to reduce the overall operating cost. The implementation of these solutions helps manufacturers maintain a competitive edge by facilitating the effective management of overall storage operations. Also, some automotive manufacturers have their own production facilities in European countries and this industry is a large market for AGVs. In addition, the presence of large companies with global storage and distribution operations continues the growth of the e-commerce industry, and advanced third-party logistics (3PL) networks accelerate the growth of the AGV market in Europe. While this is the case for Europe, the situation is slightly different for the Middle Eastern countries. Since the fields of activity of companies in the Middle East are focused on storage, much larger warehouses and warehouses are used for the stacking, storage and positioning of their raw materials, semi-finished products and products. Again, with the importance of labor and geographical conditions, companies have started to invest in AGVs to be used in storage areas rather than production.

What innovations does the new technology bring?

Especially with the importance of AGVs to be used for warehouses and warehouses, technological infrastructure and integration with ERP systems, companies are making more demands for AGVs to be used in warehouses. This shows that it is important for AGV to reach a more advanced level in terms of technology and mechanics in order to carry out its activities in the warehouse. The fact that AGVs continue their activities by using artificial intelligence in addition to their working principles makes it inevitable that AGV will be transformed into IGV (Intelligence Guided Vehicle).
